GMP - General Management Plan
Superintendent Cindy Ott-Jones announced that the National Park Service will prepare a General Management Plan (GMP) for Lake Meredith National Recreation Area and Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument. This plan will articulate the long-term vision that will guide management of the recreation area and the national monument for approximately the next 15 to 20 years.
DATES: To determine the scope of issues to be addressed in the General Management Plan and to identify significant issues related to management of Lake Meredith and Alibates Flint Quarries, the park service will conduct public scoping meetings as follows:
April 27, 2009 – Sanford-Fritch Junior High School Cafeteria, 536 Eagle Blvd., Fritch, TX
April 28, 2009 – Frank Phillips College, Gallery Room, Fine Arts and Cafeteria Bldg., 1301 W. Roosevelt St., Borger, TX
April 29, 2009 – First State Bank, 500 E. 1st St. (Hwy. 152), Dumas, TX
April 30, 2009 – Ambassador Hotel, Trinity Room, 3100 I-40 West, Exit 68-B (Georgia St.), Amarillo, TX
All meetings will be from 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm, with a brief presentation given at 5:30. Representatives of the National Park Service will be available at each of the public meetings to discuss issues, resource concerns, and the planning process.
