Sharon Henry, FAS Regional Commissioner

Sharon Henry was appointed as the first Federal Acquisition Service (FAS) Regional Commissioner for the Heartland Region in January 2007. Formerly Ms. Henry was the Acting Regional Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer for the Heartland Region Federal Technology Service. Sharon Henry now oversees the Heartland FAS operations with gross sales of $1.4 billion of which historically more than 70 percent of contracts awarded have been to small businesses suppliers.

The Heartland Region FAS includes national programs such as the Heartland Global Supply Center, the National Customer Service Center, the Small Business Governmentwide Acquisition Contracts Center; and regional programs which include Fleet Services, the Facilities Maintenance and Hardware Acquisition Center, Network Services, and Assisted Acquisitions. FAS, which has been described as "the gateway to federal contracting for small businesses," provides services and sales to civilian and defense agencies in Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska.

Ms. Henry has been with GSA since 1989. After beginning her career in GSA’s intern program, she held increasingly complex and responsible leadership positions in the Administrative Services Division and the Federal Technology Service. Ms. Henry is a graduate of GSA’s Advanced Leadership Program. She has a bachelor's of science degree in communications and public relations from Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri. She holds a master's of science degree in integrated marketing from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas. She also holds the American Marketing Association designation of Professional Certified Marketer. Prior to Ms. Henry’s employment with GSA she was a manager in a mid-size manufacturing company for nine years.
