DISA to Hold Ground-Breaking Ceremony at Future Home, Ft. Meade, Md.

ARLINGTON, Va., April 9, 2008 – Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) Director Lt Gen Charles E. Croom Jr. will host a ground-breaking ceremony for the agency’s new headquarters facility at Ft. Meade, Md., on April 16.

The ceremony marks the start of construction and the beginning of what we expect to be a long and productive relationship between DISA, Ft. Meade, and the surrounding  Maryland communities.

DISA headquarters will relocate to Ft. Meade by September 2011 as a result of the 2005 Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) legislation. Nearly 4,300 DISA, Joint Task Force- Global Network Operations (JTF-GNO) and tenant positions will transfer to Ft. Meade as part of the relocation.

Media interested in attending this event must be escorted by a public affairs representative. To coordinate your visit, please contact the Fort Meade Public Affairs Office, Jennifer Downing at (301) 677-1486 or Summer Barkley at (301) 677-1436, no later than Monday, April 14 at noon.  Entry into Ft. Meade requires RSVP, and arrival at Ft. Meade Visitor Control Center by 9:00 a.m. on April 16.
