Penn Badgley: 'Pineapple is very sexy.'

Ll-penn-badgley.jpg

Penn Badgley, who is dating his Gossip Girl co-star Blake Lively (shown here at the U.S. Open a few weeks ago), reveals the best piece of relationship advice he’s received: “Passion is number one and trust is number two," he says in the October issue of Women's Health. "You need to start with a passionate connection, and if you can maintain it and cultivate it, that’s most important. Then trust can develop. I have both now, and it’s been an incredible thing."

And when he wants to heat things in up in the kitchen? “Earlier this year I went to Thailand and took some cooking classes. I learned how to make classic Thai dishes, which are exotic, spicy and quick and easy to make—and a rare thing to cook for a woman. I made a yellow curry with pineapple. I think pineapple is very sexy. It reminds me of bikinis and the beach.”

'Biggest Loser' bums out fans with bleeps

Ll-bob-jillianx-blog200

Biggest Loser fans have been turned off this season - which kicked Sept. 15 - "after a flurry of F-bombs flew from the mouths of trainers Jillian Michaels and Bob Harper," says AOL's That's Fit blogger Bev Sklar. The "rude and crude" Season 8 premiere was filled with "bleeps" to cover the "copious cursing," Bev writes, adding, "Perhaps it's time to float a bar of soap in their water bottles."

Bev's not alone. This blogger from Rhode Island writes that "the trainers have turned to foul and abusive language to "inspire" the contestants. And on the NBC Biggest Loser message boards, more than 5,000 people have commented in the area titled: "I CANNOT BELIEVE THE LANGUAGE ON TBL!" According to a poll there, 57% say that the language is "awful, and should be cleaned up." Maybe editors listened. Last night's episode was better, fans say. Did you watch?

Celeb mag wars: JT and Jessica Biel have broken up - or have they?

Us Weekly has put Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel on this week's cover. Why? "IT'S OVER!" trumpets the headline. Quoting "a mutual pal of the pair," the star couple called it quits "about a month ago."

UPDATE: People quotes anonymous sources saying, "They're together. They're not breaking up. Any time they spend time apart it's because they're working." And on Monday night they were photographed together while on a getaway in Northern California.

Spencer Pratt: 'Scared' wife might have a baby

Ll-spencer-heidi.jpg

Spencer Pratt admitted this week to the New York Post that wife Heidi Montag seems a bit baby crazy lately. "See, Heidi's mom had her when she was 19 years old, so she's got this whole young mom theory that I just found out about. But I keep telling her, you can still be a young mom at 27 -- chill out! She's not having it though."

So no little Speidis in the near future? "I'm not even kidding, my wife -- OK, I'm gonna get crass here -- but we're barely having sex because I'm scared that she's gonna have a baby. That's the level our marriage is on right now. I'm not even kidding -- my wife has me debating cutting off my ... Our sex life has dramatically changed recently."

Hollywood rallies around Roman Polanski

Ll-roman-polanski.jpg

Hollywood is continuing to rally behind Roman Polanski, reports CNN. Woody Allen, Pedro Almodovar and Martin Scorsese are among film industry folks who have "demanded the immediate release" of the director from a Zurich jail.

"The arrest of Roman Polanski in a neutral country, where he assumed he could travel without hindrance ... opens the way for actions of which no one can know the effects," says the petition, signed by names including actresses Monica Bellucci and Tilda Swinton and directors David Lynch, Jonathan Demme, John Landis, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu and Wim Wenders. Movie mogul Harvey Weinstein is trying to recruit more supporters for Polanksi. "We are calling every filmmaker we can to help fix this terrible situation," his company told CNN in a statement.

UPDATE: Kirstie Alley has weighed in on Twitter, saying: "JUST FOR THE RECORD....RAPE IS RAPE...this is one HOLLYWOOD STAR who does not CELEBRATE or DEFEND Roman Polanski..his ART did not RAPE her"

'DWTS' sends another celeb home

Ll-kathy-ireland.jpg

In a Dancing With The Stars results show that included the USC Marching Band, Selena Gomez and Joss Stone all performing -- and Mickey Rourke in the audience cheering on his MMA fighting buddy Chuck Liddell -- one star was sent home.

And that star was ... not Tom DeLay - even though many of you thought he should get the boot. He was deemed safe, despite the fact that he and Kathy Ireland had the lowest score (tied at 18) Monday night from the judges. He'll be back to samba next week.

It came down to Kathy, Debi Mazar and Louie Vito in the final minutes of the show. Ultimately, Kathy was sent home. "There is so much to take away from this experience," she said. "It's been so much fun!"

NY court dismisses Dan Rather's case against CBS

Ll-dan-rather.jpg

Big win for CBS: A New York court today dismissed Dan Rather's $70 million breach of contract lawsuit against CBS Corp., noting that the network continued to pay the anchor $6 million a year even after he left the evening news broadcast. Rather sued CBS and its top executives in 2007, claiming he had been removed him from his CBS Evening News anchor job over a report that examined President George W. Bush's military service.

Rather's lawyer, Martin Gold, said he was "extremely disappointed" in the decision and would appeal it to the Court of Appeals, New York's highest court.

Simon Cowell to celebrate 50th birthday this weekend

Ll-simon-cowellx-blog200

Simon Cowell, who turns 50 next week on Oct. 7, will be the guest of honor at a party for 400 or so close friends this weekend - including Paula Abdul who tweeted today that she is heading to New York and then to "Mr. Cowell's 50th bday in London. I am very excited."

The black tie party's being thrown by Cowell's pal, billionaire tycoon Phillip Green. Elton John, Kylie Minogue, Kevin Spacey and Kate Moss are just a few of the celebs expected. During an interview with the Daily Mirror, everyone's favorite Idol judge downplayed the milestone birthday. “Can't we just pretend it is not going to happen? "Seriously, I feel exactly the same now turning 50 as I did when I was 40 or 30. I am enjoying myself."

In the interview, Cowell said he did not want people to give him gifts. There are a couple of charities I am involved with that would appreciate a donation,” he said. "But please, no presents from anyone."

A man who home schooled Wynonna Judd's children has been arrested and is facing federal child pornography charges, reports News Channel 5 in Nashville. Scott Myers had worked as a teaching assistant and camp counselor before being hired to home school Wynonna's two children, Elijah, 14, and Grace, 13.

According to Channel 5, agents seized 3,000 electronic images of children engaged in various sex acts from Myers' apartment. And investigators say Myers confessed in an internet chat-room to engaging in sexual activity with four boys who lived in the immediate area.

Andy Williams: 'Obama is following Marxist theory.'

Ll-andy-williams.jpg

Singer Andy Williams, 81, has always been a Republican, but he liked and admired the Kennedys, he said in a recent radio interview.

"I was very close to Bobby and he asked me to be a delegate for him when he ran for president," he said. "He knew about me being a Republican, but just laughed and said, 'Sign yourself in as a Democrat and then change back afterwards'. Sadly, I never got to do that. I was very close to Teddy Kennedy, too, and his death recently brought it all back. What a tragedy. Had he lived, I think Bobby would have been a great president."

He doesn't think Barack Obama is a great president.

"Don't like him at all," he said, "I think he wants to create a socialist country. The people he associates with are very Left-wing," he said, adding, "Obama is following Marxist theory. He's taken over the banks and the car industry. He wants the country to fail."

'Illiterate' kid writes book, prepares to make history at '60 Minutes'

Ll-bryon-pitts.jpg

Byron Pitts says he "fully expects" to go full time for 60 Minutes in the next "year or so." When he does, Pitts, a contributor to the show since January 2008, will become only the second black full-time correspondent at 60 Minutes in its 42-year history, reports TV Newser's Gail Shister. Ed Bradley died in 2006 from leukemia.

But even more interesting is the fact that Pitts' memoir, Step Out on Nothing -- in which he reveals he was functionally illiterate until he was 12 -- is out today. He acknowledges that many will be shocked by the book's revelations. "People's jaws drop when I tell them," the East Baltimore native tells Shister. "Most people know me for where I am, not where I've come from." As a youngster, Pitts was labeled "slow" or even "stupid" because of his difficulty with reading. Painfully shy, he faked his way through by memorizing "enough to get by," he explains. When his problem was finally discovered, "it was the only time I had seen my mother cry," he says.

Five publishing houses bid for the book. "It was pretty heady stuff," admits Pitts, 48, shown here reporting from Kuwait City in 1993. "For me, it was one more reminder of how fortunate I've been most of my life."
Will John Travolta change his Scientology views now?

John Travolta's public acknowledgement that his son Jett, who died in January, was autistic has former Scientologists wondering if he  will leave the church — which they say has little tolerance for chronic conditions, reports Kim Masters at The Daily Beast.

Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston, had always said their son suffered from a syndrome caused by exposure to chemicals. The cause of death listed on Jett’s death certificate was seizure. But while Travolta and Preston clearly were devoted to their son, some ex-Scientologists believe Jett may have gone without appropriate treatment because of the church’s teachings. And they think that if Travolta comes to terms with his son’s diagnosis, the church eventually will lose one of its most high-profile members.

Britney's new single hits radio

Britney's new single, 3, was released to radio today and it's already hot on the Web. You can listen to it here.

Produced by Spears' longtime collaborator Max Martin -- the man behind her 1998 hit "...Baby One More Time", the nwe song will be included on her Nov. 24 Singles Collection album.

So what's the 3 a reference to? The lyrics seem to be about having, uh, romantic relationships more than one person at a time: "1, 2, 3/ Not only you and me/..."

Jon Gosselin files papers to delay divorce

Ll-jon-kate-gosselinx-blog200

Interesting timing, don't you think?

Only moments after TLC released the news this morning that Kate is moving on with without Jon, In Touch Weekly is reporting that Jon has submitted court papers to suspend his split with Kate for 90 days.

Today, says In Touch, Jon submitted a document to a Pennsylvania court-approved arbitrator asking for the delay. “Even though we were heading for a divorce, it appeared that Kate had been suffering from this divorce as much as I had. That’s why I asked my attorney to put the brakes on this divorce so I could try to regain control over the future of our family. So Kate and I could join on a cooperative course that would benefit our family — not destroy it.”

Jon and Kate were due to be officially divorced by the end of November, but now he says, “I regret my conduct since Kate and I separated [on June 22]. I used poor judgment in publicly socializing with other women so soon.”

Jon's attorney Mark Jay Heller insists that Jon wants the document to be a sort of peace treaty: “He is hoping to inspire his wife to become less rigid, inflexible and controlling and open up. We’re hoping Jon and Kate can sit down together and start exploring what to do about their situation. Once they do that, the rest will fall into place.”

TLC renames show to just 'Kate Plus Eight'

Ll-kate-gosselinx-blog200

Just in: Jon is history! (Well, sort of.) TLC will relaunch Jon & Kate Plus Eight in November under the new title Kate Plus Eight.

TLC says the show "will continue to capture the incredible lives of the eight Gosselin children and their family" but will focus on Kate as a single mom. As for Jon? " TLC will continue its exclusive relationship with Jon Gosselin and he will continue to appear on the show, but on a less regular basis."

Said Eileen O'Neill of TLC: "Given the recent changes in the family dynamics, it only makes sense for us to refresh and recalibrate the program to keep pace with the family. The family has evolved and we are attempting to evolve with it; we feel that Kate’s journey really resonates with our viewers. Additionally the network is in development on a Kate project for 2010.”

Diane Sawyer: 'We're on a giant planet of non-stop yakking'

Ll-capitol-file

Diane Sawyer doesn't talk about her upcoming new gig on ABC's World News - other than to say it's "an enormous honor" - in the new Capitol File magazine. But she does talk about a few other things, including:

Are you a spiritual person? "I pray for good lighting (laughs). Yes, in some undefined way. There's a lot we cannot know - a lot we cannot fathom."

How many hours of sleep do you get a night? "Maybe four, which is a good night for me. Five is a complete luxury. About 14 a night on the weekends."

What have been the biggest changes you've observed in television journalism? "Three networks (once) controlled a sense of informational priority in American, and it had a reassuring consistency. Now we're on a giant planet of non-stop yakking - all of us, all the time - and we're redefining what it is to be informed. And the traditional sources are no longer the defining ones."

What are your least favorite stories to work on? "I will confess I find the stories about transient TV shows to be a little hard."

Swayze recorded audiobook despite being in 'terrible pain'

Ll-swayze-book.jpg

Simon & Schuster audiobook producer Elisa Shokoff worked with Patrick Swazye and his wife Lisa Niemi recording his audiobook, Time of My Life, out today. They started a few days before Swayze's 57th birthday late in August, during what was the last month of his life. "It was an exhilarating time," says Shokoff, in a statement.

"We set up our equipment in his beloved music studio at the ranch he shared with Lisa Niemi on the edge of the Angeles National Forest in the San Fernando Valley.  In the 10 x 12 studio were Patrick; sometimes Lisa; recording engineers Steven Strassman & then Matt Cartsonis; two large, often sleeping & snoring dogs -- Rhodesian Ridgeback puppy Kuma & Standard Poodle Lucas; and me."

They would begin at dusk and work late into the night. "Before, in-between and after recording, it was clear that Patrick was gravely ill and in terrible pain. But when he was actually reading, the weight of his illness seemed to lift and it was easy to forget that he was even sick.  From him, a wonderful, kind, cowboy-storyteller emerged, full of life and humor and a heightened compassion. The resulting audiobook is a testament to the great and graceful performer that he was.”
