Government Week May 3 - 9
May 3 - 9 is National County Government Week. Aiken County is taking part in celebrating National County Government Week to bring awareness and understanding about the roles and responsibilities of County Government. Aiken County operates public libraries, jails, and the court systems, just to name a few. They also maintain county roads, bridges, parks and recreational facilities.

Storm Water - It's Up to Us
Aiken County has 2 drainage systems - the sewers and the storm drains. The storm drain system was designed to prevent flooding by carrying excess rainwater away from city streets out to the river and lakes. However, during storms in urban areas, rain water may mix with pollutants in industrial and household runoff, creating storm water pollution.

Parks, Recreation & Tourism opens new Visitor Center in Downtown Aiken
Grand Opening set for May 14th
The PRT department has opened a new Visitor Center inside the Holley Building in historic downtown Aiken (113 Laurens St., Suite 107). Operating hours are Monday through Friday 10 am - 5 pm. The Grand Opening is set for May 14th, but the center has been open since late November 2008.
The Visitor's Center is in full swing, assisting visitors in finding the information they are looking for and suggesting places they may find interesting. Our gift shop offers many local souvenirs as a reminder of your visit to Aiken County. Please stop by when you are in the area and let us help you with your travel plans.
Upcoming Events at the Historical Museum
The following is the Historical Museum's calendar of events for the remainder of 2009.
The museum is located at 433 Newberry Street in downtown Aiken. They are open Tuesday-Saturday: 10:00-5:00, Sunday: 2:00-5:00. There is no charge to visit the museum. Stop by to see how the museum is preserving Aiken's history!

Circuit Case Info Now Online
Circuit Case information, including civil and criminal cases and judgments, is available online. Additionally, court dockets and rosters are also available online. Use our Public Index website and when prompted, click on Circuit Court for the Circuit case search page. Information provided is in accordance with policies of the South Carolina Judicial Department, which provided the software for this new online service.
Pay Your Traffic Ticket Online
If you have received a traffic ticket in the unincorporated area of Aiken County, you can now pay your ticket online by visiting www.aikencountysc.gov/traffic. Credit cards are accepted for payment online and at all Magistrate offices in Aiken County; a convenience fee is added by the credit card processor to defer the cost of handling the credit card payments.Traffic ticket payments will still be accepted by cash or other approved methods at Central Traffic Court on Hampton Avenue.
