The Pine Ridge Indian Health Service Hospital is located in southwestern South Dakota on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation.
The facility serves a population of over 17,000 patients from surrounding communities in southwestern South Dakota and
northwestern Nebraska. The pharmacy provides services for the hospital's outpatient clinics including ambulatory care clinic,
dental clinic, pediatric clinic, urgent care, midwife clinic and eye clinic. The hospital facilitates a 38-bed inpatient ward,
including acute care, OB/labor and delivery, emergency department, and surgery department. Outpatient ambulatory care and
pharmacy services are also offered at 3 outlying field clinics.
Rotational Experience opportunities:
Opportunities include, but are not limited to: pediatrics, critical care (inpatient and emergency room), drug information,
infectious disease, internal medicine, ambulatory care, family medicine, nephrology, smoking cessation, pharmacokinetics, and
field pharmacy experience including travel to remote sites.

Pine Ridge is located in Southwestern South Dakota in the shadow of the beautiful Black Hills and in the backyard of the
Badlands National Park. Local recreational activities are abundant, while shopping in Rapid City (population 62,000) is a
short 90 minute drive away.
