The mission of FMCSA's Office of Analysis, Research and Technology is to reduce the number and severity of commercial motor vehicle crashes and enhance the efficiency of CMV operation by:
- Conducting systematic studies directed toward fuller scientific discovery, knowledge, or understanding
- Adopting, testing, and deploying innovative roadside practices and technology
- Analyzing trends, costs, fatalities and injuries in large truck and bus crashes; monitoring data quality; and preparing economic and environmental analyses for FMCSA's rulemakings
