Ordering Publications

Many publications in this catalog are distributed compliments of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Wastewater Management (OWM). EPA distributes one free copy of each publication to each customer until supplies are depleted.

Publication titles are listed alphabetically under different subject categories. For each title you will find listed (if available):

These are the accession numbers by which a document is identified. The EPA number is a document's unique identifying number and should be used when ordering the document from the EPA.

When the EPA's supply of a publication is depleted, requestors are referred to either the National Technical Information Service (NTIS) or the Educational Resources Information Center (ERIC). These clearinghouses provide copies of publications for a fee. Both NTIS and ERIC assign unique identifying numbers to each document they distribute. Customers should use these numbers when ordering documents from either NTIS or ERIC.

Know the cost in advance, availability restrictions, and the approximate time of shipment. The $3.00 handling fee is waived. For information and an application, call (703) 487-4650 and ask for the free brochure PR-846.

Orders may be charged to an NTIS Deposit Account or the customer's American Express, VISA, or Mastercard. Checks or money orders are to be made payable to NTIS in U.S. dollars. Orders for foreign destinations are subject to foreign prices. If a purchase order is used, add $7.50 to the total order (U.S., Canada, and Mexico only).

Shipping and Handling

A $3.00 handling fee per order applies to orders from the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. For other countries, the handling fee is $4.00.

Orders are sent first class or equivalent in the United States. Orders to other countries are shipped surface mail. Air mail is $3.50 per report to Canada and Mexico and $7.50 per report to other countries.

RUSH ORDERS are guaranteed to be processed within 24 hours and sent by overnight courier. Add $15.00 to the price of each title. Outside U.S., Canada, or Mexico, add $25.00 per title.

Orders may be picked up at NTIS, 5285 Port Royal Road, Springfield, Virginia (U.S. 495, exit 5 west) between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Discounts and Credits

A 25 percent discount is available for most documents if 5 to 100 copies of a single title are ordered at the same time and shipped to the same address. For discounts on more than 100 copies, call NTIS at (703) 487-4650.

Academic libraries can receive a 10 percent discount education credit on orders. Call NTIS at (703) 487-4660.

State and local governments and State universities can get immediate credit and shipment of orders with "special credit" accounts without being charged the standard $7.50 fee. For more information, call NTIS at (703) 487-4064 and ask for the free brochure PR-220.
