Back to Scaffolding
Slide 53
A closer look at the previous scaffold. The suspended scaffold is supported by ropes attached to portable ladders lying on the roof. Buckets and bags of sand were used for counter weights. The ladder coming off of the roof is actually MOVING (not enough counter weight!). On the right, the scaffold is attached to a 90-year-old fire escape that was ready to pull out of the building. To make matters worse, the overhead electrical wires you see in the slides are LIVE, and the whole scaffold is energized!!! Do you think a Competent Person was involved in the erection of this scaffold?
