French Quarter Visitor Center
916 N. Peters Street:
9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, year round. Except Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day

Headquarters, 419 Decatur Street:
8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Closed Holidays.

 

Seasons
The park is open year-round.  Several times a year the park participates in special events that bring enhanced opportunities to experience the city's jazz culture.  April is Jazz Appreciation Month which includes French Quarter Festival and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.  In August the park hosts the Children's Stage at Satchmo SummerFest.  October is Jazz Awareness Month and the park boasts seasonal concerts for December's Christmas New Orleans Style.

Congo Square, near the future site of New Orleans Jazz NHP, was one of only 2 areas in the United States where African drumming, singing, and dancing was permitted during the mid-eighteenth to nine-teenth century.
