Biennial Oil and Gas Conference Planned in Bakersfield

Members of the oil and gas industry will have an opportunity to discuss how they are "Meeting the Challenge" at the biennial Oil and Gas Conference in Bakersfield on Thursday.

The conference will begin at 7:30 a.m. at the Marriott (previously the Holiday Inn) at the Convention Center, 801 Truxton Ave.

"The conference is designed to provide an informal forum where oil and gas operators can interface with regulatory agency staff," said Jeff Prude, Bureau of Land Management petroleum engineer and conference organizer.

The program will include regulatory and policy updates by sponsor agencies including BLM, state Department of Oil, Gas and Geothermal Resources and the Central Valley Water Quality Control Board. There also will be a presentation on "Greenhouse Gases and a Low Carbon Future, What Assembly Bill 32 Means to You."

The conference will conclude with the Greater Bakersfield Chamber of Commerce’s annual Energy Committee luncheon.  This year’s lunch presentation will be comprised of senior executives from the major oil companies:  Aera, Chevron and Oxy plus a speaker for the small independents.  They will speak about how their companies are “Meeting the Challenge.”
