News ReleaseFor Release: March 31, 2008 Comment Period for Granite Wind Energy Project ExtendedThe Bureau of Land Management (BLM) and the county of San Bernardino (SBCO) have agreed to extend the comment period for the Granite Mountain Wind Energy project east of Apple Valley from March 31 to May 5. Granite Wind, LLC is proposing the Granite Mountain wind farm to be located between Apple Valley and Lucerne Valley, east of SR 247 and north of Lucerne Dry Lake in San Bernardino County, California. The proposed project includes up to 27 2.3-megawatt (MW) wind turbines on approximately 80 acres. At full capacity, the proposed project would provide enough electricity for the residential electric needs of over 70,000 people This month the BLM and SBCO signed a Memorandum of Understanding that ensures the county and BLM will work hand-in-hand in environmental reviews and public participation on renewable energy projects in the county.
