WELCOME TO THE DETROIT RIVERFRONT

The non-profit Detroit RiverFront Conservancy was formed in 2003 with the mission of bringing public access to Detroit's Riverfront and serving as a catalyst for economic development in the city. The ultimate vision is to develop five and a half miles of riverfront from the Ambassador Bridge to just east of the MacArthur (Belle Isle) Bridge.

Thanks to the strength of our public/private partnership, the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy celebrates the successful completion of three miles of development on the east Riverfront, including pavilions, plazas, parks and green space, all connected by the ever popular RiverWalk. Already it is becoming an extension of Detroiters' backyards and a not-to-be-missed destination for visitors.

Riverfront Playscape are opeating under fall hours - Friday, Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. - 8 p.m through the end of October.  RIVERFRONT COMMUNITY MEETING

Video streaming by Ustream

We were pleased to welcome nearly 300 residents that joined us for our Annual Riverfront Community Meeting on Wednesday, October 17 at the UAW - GM Center for Human Resources. The evening was filled with lively discussion and interaction as we outlined some of the exciting developments happening along the riverfront. We invite you to check out the above video for highlights of the meeting.

ART ON the RIVERFRONT

Public Art 1The Detroit Riverfront Conservancy is pleased to announce the first of several planned installations of public art along the riverfront.

The Public Art Program of the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy celebrates the City's unique historic, cultural, natural and human character by inspiring a vibrant and compelling experience, open and accessible to all.

Through the selection and installation of public art works of the highest merit, we endeavor to use the power of the art in educating, challenging and engaging a richly diverse community and creating a world-class destination that fosters civic pride.

Featured works include Sasson Soffer's (MIDMIEM, 1970), Robert Sestok's (FREE FORM 5, 2001) and Tyree Guyton's (BOOGALOO, 2000) and (SIDE TALKIN KAY, 2000)

DIA Inside|Out

Inside|Out, now in its third year, brings 80 reproductions of masterpieces from the DIA's collection to the streets and parks of metro Detroit, pleasantly surprising and delighting residents of the participating communities. On the Detroit Riverfront, the works are clustered within walking or biking distance of each other in a grand, open-air gallery.

For a detailed map of where these reproductions are located, click hereART

The DIA is working with the communities to plan educational opportunities and other fun activities, such as bicycle and walking tours. In addition, residents of participating cities receive free museum admission on a designated Family Sunday.
