PRESIDENTIAL MANAGEMENT FELLOWS PROGRAM |
|
The Presidential Management Fellows (PMF) Program is a leadership development fellowship designed to attract outstanding masters or doctoral-level students to careers in the Federal service. Originally created in 1977, this Program is a stepping stone to highly visible and respected leadership positions in the Federal Government. The Chicago Region of the Social Security Administration has participated in this program since 1997. PMFs are hired at the GS-9 grade level, promoted to GS-11 after one year and then to the GS-12 at the end of the Program. Starting salary is over $49,000.
To be eligible for the PMF Program, individuals must apply in the months of September and October of the academic year they receive their graduate degree. PMFs must also be nominated by the director of their graduate school, pass a comprehensive OPM review process, and receive a graduate degree.
