State and Local Mercury Collection/ Recycling/Exchange Programs
Safe Mercury Management Information
SMM HomeIn addition to enacting mercury-related legislation, many states and local agencies have developed collection/exchange programs for mercury-containing devices, such as thermometers, manometers, thermostats, and fluorescent light bulbs.
Some of these programs include free collection and replacement of mercury containing devices and others have employed a bounty approach to the collection of mercury containing devices. In many instances, the collection programs involve collaboration among state agencies, communities, and businesses.
The links below will take you out of the EPA.gov domain and to external links . For additional information on recycling opportunities for mercury-containing light bulbs, including compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs), please view the Lamps Recycling Page.
