Administrative Services Branch

The Administrative Services Branch of the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) obtains and provides the resources and services essential to the efficient operation of the Office of the Director and the Division of Extramural Research.

The branch manages the administrative budget, a duty which encompasses determining needs; approving expenditures; ensuring that funds are available for activities such as equipment purchases, meeting support and travel; and ensuring that funds are spent legally. The branch also provides support services to facilitate staff activities, including: organizing conference support; acquiring and renovating office space; purchasing equipment and supplies; establishing consultant contracts; and managing day-to-day operations.

In order to ensure adherence to Federal regulations, the branch advises staff about administrative policies and procedures, and performs analytical studies relevant to establishing effective administrative controls. In addition, the branch serves as liaison between NHGRI and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) offices and committees, as well as to non-NIH agencies and businesses.
