- 42 States, Puerto Rico, Five Tribes Share Record $75.4
Millon in Brownfields Grants
Communities in 42 states and Puerto Rico will share more than $75 million in EPA Brownfields grants to help revitalize former industrial and commercial sites, turning them from problem properties to productive community use. The grants were announced today by EPA Administrator Mike Leavitt at the site of a former metal foundry in Milwaukee.- EPA

- Over 1,000 to be Trained for Environmental Jobs in Brownfields
Communities Nationwide
In its ongoing efforts to promote economic revitalization and safeguard the environment and public health, EPA announced the awarding of its second round of Brownfields Job Training Grants under the new Small Business Liability Relief and Brownfields Revitalization Act of 2002. The second round of grants include EPA's selection of 16 recipients for funded Brownfields Job Training and Development Demonstration Grants totaling $2.47 Million.- EPA News

Brownfields Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund, and Cleanup Grants.
The Environmental Protection Agency is reopening the competition for Fiscal Year 2004 brownfields grants to accept applications for funding for certain brownfield sites that were not eligible under the Proposal Guidelines for Brownfields Assessment, Revolving Loan Fund, and Cleanup Grants published in the Federal Register on October 16, 2003, and subsequent corrections published in the Federal Register on November 14, 2003.- Federal Register Notice

- The Kresge Foundation has announced a new green building
grant program for nonprofit organizations. Details are
on line at: http://www.kresge.org/initiatives/index.htm

Note: The Kresge Foundation is not part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (US EPA), hence, the grant program referenced above is not an EPA grant program. US EPA will not provide letters of support or endorsement for organizations applying for funding. US EPA is willing to provide information to Brownfields grantees regarding other private foundation grants relating to Brownfields revitalization.
