Subject: DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION ORGANIZATION MANUAL
FEDERAL HIGHWAY ADMINISTRATION - CHANGE

  1. PURPOSE. To issue revised pages to the Federal Highway Administration's (FHWA) section of the Department of Transportation Organization Manual.

  2. EXPLANATION OF CHANGES. This organization manual change revises the functional statements for the Directors of Field Services to include the following functions: program improvement, information and analysis, and risk management. These functions are currently performed within the Office of Professional and Corporate Development, the Resource Center, and the Office of Infrastructure, respectively. This organizational adjustment consolidates resources that perform similar and related functions into one organizational element, thus improving efficiency and effectiveness. Additionally, a Director of Technical Services position is established within the Executive Director's office to provide focus for professional development, technology transfer, and technical assistance. The FHWA organization chart and impacted mission and function statements are revised to reflect these changes.
