ReWA's Mission

Refugee Women's Alliance is a nonprofit, multi-ethnic organization that promotes inclusion, independence, personal leadership and strong communities by providing refugee and immigrant women and families with culturally and linguistically appropriate services. ReWA advocates for social justice, public policy changes, and equal access to services while respecting cultural values and the right to self determination.

ReWA and Al-Shifa Clinic partner to make the first open-community student run clinic in Seattle.

In establishing the this service, health care professionals from the University of Washington School of Medicine and ReWA are working hard to provide basic medical services to the underserved using an interdisciplinary team approach. As professional and undergraduate students, Al-Shifa has started a partnership with ReWA to provide basic healthcare at the first open-community student run clinic in Seattle, targeting the un-insured - especially immigrants who do not know the resources available to them. more

OCVA Moving Mountains Award 2007

ReWA Domestic Violence Program is the proud recipient of the Office Of Crime Victims Advocacy (OCVA) Moving Mountains Award 2007 for its work with refugee and immigrant victims and survivors of crime.

Sexual Assault Education Videos

The Seattle Police Department and Refugee Women's Alliance co-produced “The Unspoken Truth:Sexual Assault” education videos in six different languages to provide important information regarding sexual assault, including victims’ rights and resources. Eastern European languages sexual assault posterSexual Assault Posters

ReWA Domestic Violence Program has created sexual assault posters in Southeast Asian, East African, and Eastern European different languages available for community outreach.

Pegasus Award'I Just Keep Quiet', a short film about human trafficking, co-produced by Refugee Women’s Alliance and the Seattle Police Department, has been recognized by the Pegasus Awards, receiving its highest honor, the Award of Excellence. Read about it in ReWA's Summer 2006 Newsletter.
