The Bureau of Land Management's Division of Recreation and Visitor Services (BLM Recreation) oversees various national programs affecting recreation management on BLM public lands. These national programs are briefly described below. BLM Recreation increasingly engages organizational partnerships and public participation into its overall recreation management and planning strategies for the public lands. BLM Recreation is working to improve understanding of these national programs, and to improve communication and coordination with its stakeholders.
Byways Program – Numerous byways, including National Scenic Byways, Backcountry Byways, and other designated routes, traverse the public lands and are recognized as part of BLM’s National Scenic Byways Program.
