Photo Gallery: Gaza Assistance
Since
December 27, 2008, USAID has provided more than $16 million worth of
humanitarian assistance to Palestinians in Gaza.
Ten million
dollars of this assistance was provided through 16 grants to 9 U.S.
nongovernmental organizations (NGOs): ANERA, CARE, CRS, CHF, IOCC, Mercy Corps,
Relief International, Save the Children, and World Vision.
The NGOs
provided Palestinians in Gaza with food supplies, such as milk powder, canned
cheese and vegetables, tuna, noodles, beans, and dates, as well as non-food
items, such as blankets, plastic sheeting, medicines and medical equipment,
soap and other hygiene products, and flashlights.
The
additional $6 million was awarded to the World Food Program (WFP), which has
provided approximately 2,074 metric tons of food commodities to 111,000 needy
Palestinians.
