EPA and other national organizations with an interest in safe drinking water have committed to work together on source water protection. The collaborative members include:

How We Intend to Work: The members of the collaborative have agreed to do the following:

  • Share information
  • Development recommendations together on source water protection
  • Package and disseminate these recommendations

Goals and objectives: The source water collaborative will encourage actions that:

  • Contain or prevent contamination
  • Promote development patterns that limit threats to drinking water sources
  • Encourage matching uses of land with locations least likely to affect drinking water sources; and
  • Preserve the land needed to protect the quality of current and future sources of drinking water
