The mission of the Virgin Islands Division of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) is to implement the mandates of the federal (OSH) Act, and to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for all employers and employees within its jurisdiction. This means, to ensure as much as practicable, that employees work in an environment free from hazards and risks to their safety and health. DOSH intends to ensure that this protection is provided to all employees in the Virgin Islands. This will involve the application of standards, enforcement, and compliance assistance. The utilization of these OSHA tools will enable employers to maintain safe and healthful workplaces. Online Tools and other resources are also available at www.osha.gov . OSHA covers private sector employers and their employees in the 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and all other territories under Federal Government jurisdiction. Coverage is provided either directly by federal OSHA or through an OSHA-approved state program that is carried out by DOSH. Presently, the Virgin Islands has current jurisdiction with federal OSHA with respect to safety and health in the rivate sector. DOSH has primary jurisdiction for safety and health in the public sector.

The VIDOSH Enforcement Section currently inspects public sector workplaces to determine if violations of OSHA standards exist and to ensure that wdorkplaces are brought into compliance with those standards. This Inspection includes:
