Accelerate Indiana: Competitive Grants

Competitive Grants: Overview

There are billions of additional dollars available to Indiana through a competitive grant process provided by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

The Governor has asked Secretary of Commerce and CEO of the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC) Mitch Roob to work with local communities, not for profits, colleges and universities both public and private, and state agencies to ensure that Indiana is competing for as many of these  grants as possible and that the projects submitted are as strong as possible.

Competitive Grants: Applications Now Open

Applications are now available for a wide range of competitive grants made available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.  The "Funding Opportunities" page will serve as a one-stop resource for small businesses, local governments and other entities seeking to apply for competitive grants administered by the federal government.  Information regarding specific competitive grants will be added  as details are made available by the federal government.

Competitive Grants: Project Surveys

Online Project Survey:

The state, in conjunction with Ball State University, created an online project survey to gather information about potential community projects.  This survey is now closed.  The survey was designed to serve only as a tool to gather information, and should not be considered an application for funding. Due to federal program requirements, most projects will not be eligible for funding.  The limited amount of discretionary funds that will be available will be insufficient to fulfill the large number of proposals received.

More than 9,000 project ideas were submitted via the online survey.  Click here to view the list of projects sorted alphabetically by county.

For Wastewater or Drinking Water Projects:

The State Revolving Fund (SRF) Loan Program’s deadlines to apply for stimulus funding have passed due to the tight timelines required under the federal legislation.  However, if you would like to identify a wastewater or drinking water infrastructure project for future non-SRF grant funding opportunities through other agencies, please submit your projects using the electronic project entry form below.

For general information about the SRF Loan Program and the requirements/deadlines, please click here.  For more information about the SRF Loan Program process, please contact Shelley Love for Wastewater projects at (317) 232-2396 or Sarah Hudson for Drinking Water projects at (317) 232-8663.

For Local Transportation Projects:

If your submission is a local transportation project, please contact your Indiana Department of Transportation District Office as soon as possble.  Click here to view an INDOT district map.
