I was just recently reminded just how big and how important
an issue water resources management is and just how blessed were
are to be able to work with wonderful people not only in our local,
regional and national water resources communities, but also in
the world water community at large. In March I was privileged
to travel with a group of AWRA leaders and members to the 5th
World Water Forum held March 16th 22nd in Istanbul, Turkey.
These included our Executive Vice President Ken Reid, President-Elect
Ari Michelson, Board Members Michael Campana and Mary Theresa
Flynn (and husband Bob), and long-time member David Moody (and
wife Jean).

AWRA Named to 2009 Associations Advance
America Honor Roll
The American Water Resources Association
has been named to the 2009 Associations Advance America Honor Roll,
a national awards competition sponsored by the American Society
of Association Executives and the Center for Association Leadership
in Washington, DC.
AWRA received the award for its well-regarded National Water Policy
Dialogue Series.
AWRA’s dialogue series, chaired by Past President Gerald
Galloway and AWRA Technical Director Richard
Engberg, addresses head-on the need for responsible
and sustainable water resources policies in the United States.
By extension, AWRA provides leadership to other nations of the world
to address similar global water resources policy issues. AWRA’s
commitment to these dialogues demonstrates to the American people
that there is an organization that recognizes the status quo is
unacceptable, and understands that something needs to be done to
address critical water supply, environmental, and infrastructure
needs either not being met or are inadequately addressed by current
national water resources policies.
AWRA Members can access the results of all four of the dialogues
by logging
in and clicking on conference proceedings. Not a member?
