People's needs and expectations for environmental information are changing. Technology is also rapidly changing, especially on the Web. We need to keep up with both trends.
One of our best options is to work with you and others who help us accomplish our mission: protecting human health and the environment. That much is clear from our work with other agencies, organizations and individual people.
What's less clear is the best way to organize and make available what we have. We also want to give you access to our raw data so you can use it in ways we'll never think of. That's why we asked you to help during the National Dialogue on Access to Environmental Information.

The Access Strategy is the culmination of a year-long effort to learn about the information needs and access preferences of EPA's many audiences for environmental information. During the National Dialogue on Access to Environmental Information, EPA staff from across the Agency, key stakeholders, and the public participated in on-line "Jam" sessions and face-to-face meetings to express their own needs for improved information access. The resulting Access Strategy (PDF) offers broad direction for improving access to information for our Federal, tribal, state and local partners, public information audiences, and EPA staff.
