Every year, AAPT holds a contest for the best physics-based photos. The contest is open to high school students in grades 9-12 (or equivalent international grade level). Photos may be entered in one of two categories: Natural and Contrived. The latest: submit your entries online now!
AAPT is proud to be the sole Educational Partner for the 2009 Team America Rocketry Challenge (TARC). TARC is the world's largest rocket design launch contest. Approximately 7,000 students participate each year. Students must design, build, and fly a one-stage model rocket carrying one raw egg to an altitude of exactly 750 feet while staying airborne for exactly 45 seconds and returning the egg uncracked. The latest: The top 100 teams set for the final round May 16 at Great Meadow in The Plains, VA!
Between April 1-15, approximately 10,000 students took a 40-question, 45-minute timed, multiple-choice test under their school’s supervision. The exams covered material from a typical high school physics course. There are even prizes for students and schools with high scores. Visit the 2009 Physics Bowl Site the latest information on test results and winners.
AAPT is the world's leading organization for physics educators. With over 10,000 members worldwide, AAPT provides teachers with many opportunities for professional development, networking, and student enrichment.
Our endowment and annual funds help support physics educators and students, recognize excellence, expand outreach activities, and develop innovative professional development programs for school teachers, college faculty, teaching assistants, and others.
