Telecommunications Systems DivisionThe Telecommunications Systems Division collaborates closely with the Office of Budget, the Office of the Inspector General, the Office of Acquisition and Property Management, the Office of Managing Risk and Public Safety, the Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, the National Business Center, and the telecommunications management offices in all bureaus. We provide telecommunications operations guidance, technical assistance, and develop policy relating to the operations and use of telephone systems and applications, data communications networks, and radio communication systems. Tim Quinn - Chief, Telecommunications Systems Division; 202-208-5002Supervises the Telecommunications Systems Division staff and is responsible for nationwide network planning, analysis, design, and telecommunications service implementations. Develops telecommunications policy, ensures regulatory compliance, provides technical analysis and assistance, approves telecommunications plans and installations, and provides direction for managing telephone systems, radio communication systems, and data communication networks. Represents the Department at interagency telecommunications meetings and forums on national telecommunications policy and service issues. Highest current priorities are the completion of the transition of FTS2000/AT&T services to FTS2001/MCI services, the transition of DOI land mobile radio operations from wideband to narrowband operation, and the reduction of the radio frequency assignment processing backlog.
