Our 656,000 acres of public land truly represent the “Land of Enchantment” and include five environmental "life zones:" Alpine (11,500 feet); Sub-Alpine (9,500 feet); Mixed Coniferous (8,500 feet); Transition (7,000 feet); and the Upper Sonoran (4,500 feet).
BLM public lands in northcentral New Mexico include two outstanding Wild and Scenic Rivers -- the Rio Grande and the Rio Chama -- and three developed recreation areas -- Wild Rivers, Santa Cruz Lake, and Orilla Verde.
