US/Canada Partnerships
One of the Puget Sound Georgia Basin's most valuable assets is
the strong sense of partnership and collaboration felt by the people
living here. From the recognition of this place as the Salish Sea
by its indigenous inhabitants to present day international cooperation,
the ecosystem has held an importance beyond political boundaries.
Today's governments - local, tribal, state, provincial and federal
- acknowledge the need to work across the political boundary separating
the United States and Canada. Numerous initiatives and agreements
support crossborder cooperation at all levels. By continuing to
work together we can meet our common challenges for the future of
the Puget Sound Georgia Basin ecosystem.
