A Montana/Dakotas supervisory training course is planned for
February 11 and 12, 2008. The course will be held at the Hampton Inn,
5110 Southgate Drive, in Billings. A block of rooms has been reserved at the Hampton Inn under “BLM Supervisory Training.” Please make your reservations no later than February 1, 2008, and state how many nights you will be staying at the Hampton. The telephone number is (406) 248-4949. The target groups for this course are the State Management Team members, Associate Field Managers, Branch Chiefs in the State Office, Division Chiefs in the Field Offices, and Fire Operations Supervisors. The Emerging Leaders candidates are also invited to participate. An outline of featured topics is attached.
There will be a social hour on Monday, February 11th, from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
Hors d’oeuvres will be provided, but you will need to bring your own beverage. This social hour will be held at the Hampton as well. We are asking the Billings participants to bring their favorite hors d’oeuvres to share with the group. Those of you attending from out of town may contribute, too, if interested.
This course is designed to answer questions and respond to needs with practical guidance, tips, and “how-to” information for what you need to be successful as a supervisor in the Montana/Dakotas. Some of the sessions are designed to increase your awareness on organizational effectiveness topics that will have value to you as you continue in your career to positions of greater responsibility. Other sessions will give you answers to how and why we do things in a variety of areas.
See the attached list of supervisors who are expected to participate in this training course. It is my priority that the suggested employees participate. If there are compelling reasons as to why you or designated members of your staff cannot attend, discuss them with the Associate State Director. Please advise if we have overlooked someone who would benefit from attending this course. Respond to Tammy Fisher, Human Resources Specialist, by
January 9, 2008, with a list of attendees from each office/budget unit.
There has been $10,000 set aside for this course. Any money not used to pay for expenses related to the course will be redistributed to cover field office travel.
Please ensure that all supervisors within your organization receive a copy of this IB.
If you have any questions regarding this training course, please contact
Tammy Fisher, Human Resources Specialist, at 406-896-5231.
