TWO NTSB FINAL MARINE ACCIDENT REPORTS AVAILABLE ON THE WEB
The National Transportation Safety Board has published
two final marine accident reports on its website. They are:
- On November 7, 2007, the containership Cosco Busan
struck the fendering system at the base of a support tower
of the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge. The resulting
release of bunker oil caused considerable environmental
damage. The Board adopted the final report on February 18,
which is described in Press Release SB-09-06. The final

- On November 3, 2007, the Bahamas-registered tankship
Axel Spirit struck the Ambrose Light at the entrance of the
New York Harbor. The light tower was damaged beyond repair.
