Major planning documents pertaining to Herbert Hoover National Historic Site are posted here. Many of the plans are large documents that may take some time to open. Plans and projects that are open for public review are listed on the Planning, Environment, and Public Comment (PEPC) website.

Planning documents

The General Management Plan and Environmental Assessment, 2004 (PDF file, 2.1 MB) is the primary planning document for the National Historic Site for the next 15 to 20 years.

The Prairie Management Plan, 2003 (PDF file, 289 KB) outlines strategies for managing the restored tallgrass prairie.

The Fire Management Plan, 2001, (PDF file, 532 KB) addresses wildfire suppression. The plan allows the National Historic Site to manage natural resources in the most effective and efficient manner, which includes the use of prescribed fire.

The Hoover Creek Stream Management Plan and Environmental Impact Statement, 2006 (PDF file, 8.5 MB) examines five management alternatives for mitigating flooding and erosion of Hoover Creek that threaten both the National Historic Site and the Presidential Library and Museum. The environmentally preferred alternative protects the National Historic Site resources from the 50-year recurrence flood.

The Long-range Interpretive Plan, 2009 (PDF file, 2.09 MB) is a planning guide for the park's visitor services, interpretive products, and educational programming.
