NEW ORLEANS MEN SENTENCED TO 7 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON

JEROME CAMBRICE, age 35, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, was sentenced today in federal court by U. S. District Judge Helen G. Berrigan to seven (7) years (84 months) imprisonment for his role in a drug conspiracy that occurred from 2003 until 2005, announced U.S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Berrigan imposed five (5) years of supervised release following the term of imprisonment, during which time the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks an additional term of imprisonment should he violate any terms of his supervised release.

According documents filed in court, On November 12, 2008, CAMBRICE entered a guilty plea before Judge Berrigan admitting that from May 2005 May until August, 2005, with assistance from Herbert Dawson and Billy Turnage, he was involved in trafficking at least three kilograms of cocaine. Dawson and Turnage previously pleaded guilty to their roles in the conspiracy in earlier indictments.

The Court imposed a sentence withing the recommended guidelines range. After sentencing, CAMBRICE was remanded to the custody of the United States Marshal’s Service to begin his term of imprisonment.

This case was investigated by Special Agents of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorneys Sivashree Sundaram and Kevin Boitmann.
