ST. TAMMANY MAN SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR ROLE IN DRUG DISTRIBUTION NETWORK

SHANE PATRICK BOSSIER, age 27, of Pearl River, Louisiana, was sentenced in federal court yesterday by U. S. District Judge Sarah S. Vance to serve ten (10) years (120 months) in federal prison, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition to the term of imprisonment, Judge Vance imposed eight (8) years of supervised release following the term of imprisonment, during which time, the defendant will be under federal supervision and risks an additional term of imprisonment should he violate any terms of his supervised release.

BOSSIER and his five co-defendants were indicted on March 16, 2007 with charges of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute more than five (5) kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride. In a related case, another ten (10) individuals were indicted on July 27, 2007 and charged with participating in the same drug conspiracy.

On October 7, 2008, BOSSIER pled guilty to possession with the intent to distribute between five hundred (500) grams and five (5) kilograms of cocaine hydrochloride. Additionally, BOSSIER admitted that in September, 2001, he had been convicted in St. Tammany Parish of possession with the intent to distribute hydrocodone.

According to court documents, an investigation led to a court-authorized wire intercepts of cellular telephones known to be used by BOSSIER’s co-defendant, Gabriel Juron Bolden. During the months of December, 2006, January, 2007 and February, 2007, law enforcement overheard BOSSIER and his co-defendants orchestrating and discussing numerous narcotics deals, as well as discussions regarding attempts to conduct counter-surveillance of the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s. It was also learned that the main source of cocaine supply was in Houston, Texas. Based upon the joint investigation, federal complaints were filed against BOSSIER and his co-defendants

Previously, each of BOSSIER’s five co-defendants pled guilty and were sentenced as follows:

Edwin Jubencio Salinas - eighty-seven (87) months; Charles Eugene Prewitt - one hundred fifty-six (156) months; Gabriel Juron Bolden - one hundred eight (108) months; Bruce Carter, Jr. - one hundred seventy (170) months; and Dorian Tyrone Hart - two hundred forty (240) months.

In the directly related case, nine of the ten defendants charged entered guilty pleas before the Honorable A.J. McNamara. The sentences imposed were as follows: Vernon Lynn Smithson to ninety-five (95) months; Muhassin Amatullah Hall (the wife of Bruce Carter, Jr.) to five (5) years of probation; Mark Daniel Fridge, Jr. to forty-six (46) months in prison; Warren Otis Patterson to sixty-six (66) months; Jonathan Lee Laurent to eighty-four (84) months; Isaac Johnus Bolton to one hundred twenty (120) months; Adam Lee Toler to fourteen (14) months in prison; Charles Wade Smithson to one hundred twenty (120) months; and Troy Lee Moore to three hundred twenty-seven (327) months. The tenth defendant, Bakeer Rashed, Jr., has not been arrested and currently still is at large.

This joint investigation was conducted by the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The prosecutions are being handled by Assistant U. S. Attorney Christopher Cox of the Violent Crime Unit.
