ST. JOHN PARISH DRUG DEALERSPLEAD GUILTY IN FEDERAL COURT

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LOUIS JOHNSON, age 29, a resident of Edgard, Louisiana, and TREVOR JEFFERY, age 33, a resident of Vacherie, Louisiana, pled guilty in federal court today before U. S. District Judge Stanwood R. Duval, Jr. to conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of crack and 500 grams or more of powder cocaine, conspiring to possess firearms to further the conspiracy, and possessing firearms in furtherance of a drug conspiracy, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

Each defendant faces a mandatory minimum of fifteen (15) years imprisonment and a maximum of life imprisonment. Sentencing has been scheduled for April 29, 2009 at 9:00 A.M.

According to the factual basis, Special Agents with the Drug Enforcement Administraiton conducted two controlled purchases of crack cocaine from JOHNSON during 2006. In late September, 2006, agents obtained a wiretap of JOHNSON’s phone. The wiretap intercepted numerous drug calls between JOHNSON, JEFFERY and numerous others. During the wiretap, JOHNSON and JEFFERY made a purchase of multiple kilograms from the source only to later discover that the kilograms were false drugs. Thereafter, on October 6, 2006, agents intercepted a call between JOHNSON and JEFFERY wherein they made plans to find the source and take revenge. Fearing a murder was about to occur, agents immediately obtained arrest warrants for JOHNSON and JEFFERY. Subsequent to the arrests, Agents discovered two firearms, 334 grams of crack cocaine, and 1500 grams of powder cocaine inside JOHNSON’s residence, and . discovered a firearm and 133 grams of crack cocaine in JEFFERY’s room.

This case was investigated by Special Agents and Task Force Agents with the Drug Enforcement Administration, along with St. John Parish Sheriff’s Deputies.. This case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorneys Kevin G. Boitmann and Andre Jones.
