The Mexican wolf recovery program often receives inquiries regarding how members of the public can make monetary contributions that benefit Mexican wolf recovery. The following information is provided solely for interested parties wishing to make tax-deductible contributions.


Can I make a donation to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for Mexican wolves?

No. As a Federal agency, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service) may not solicit or receive monetary donations. However, the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, a nonprofit organization, has established and administers a fund to receive donations for Mexican wolf conservation and recovery. To ensure your contribution benefits Mexican wolf recovery, please send a letter specifying that you want your donation to be deposited into the Mexican Wolf Fund, Account Number 93184. The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s Mexican Wolf Recovery Coordinator receives periodic accounting information from NFWF, and is the only person authorized to disseminate the NFWF funds for Mexican wolf purposes. Anyone wishing to make tax-deductible contributions towards Mexican wolf recovery efforts can send their contribution, along with a letter requesting the funds be deposited into the Mexican Wolf Fund (Account #93184), to:

What is the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation?

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to creating public/private partnerships to conserve the Nation’s fish, wildlife, and plant resources.
