MAUREEN TIGHE SERVING AS U.S. TRUSTEE
IN REGION 15 FOR INTERIM PERIOD
WASHINGTON, D.C.Maureen
Tighe, United States Trustee for the Central District of California
(Region 16), is also serving for an interim period as United
States Trustee for the Southern District of California, Hawaii,
Guam, and the Northern Marianas Islands (Region 15), effective
April 15, 2002, it was announced by Lawrence Friedman, Director
of the Executive Office for United States Trustees.
Tighe replaced
Brenda Moody Whinery, the U.S. Trustee for Arizona (Region
14), who has served in the two regions since the former U.S.
Trustee for Region 15 resigned.
Tighe has been
the U.S. Trustee for the Central District of California since
March 1998. Immediately before joining the Program, she was
Deputy Chief of the Major Frauds Section in the Los Angeles
office of the United States Attorney. Tighe received a Juris
Doctor with high honors in 1984 from Rutgers Law School, Newark,
N.J., and a Bachelor of Arts degree with highest honors in
1979 from Douglass College, Rutgers University, New Brunswick,
N.J.
The United States
Trustee Program is a component of the Justice Department that
oversees the administration of bankruptcy cases nationwide
and intervenes in court to enforce the bankruptcy laws. Region
15 is headquartered in San Diego, with an additional office
in Honolulu.
