National Science Foundation to host budget request briefing on May 7, 2009

NSF will hold a budget request briefing at its headquarters on May 7, 2009.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) will hold a budget request briefing from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. on May 7, 2009, at its headquarters at 4201 Wilson Blvd, Arlington, Va. 22230.

The event will provide details about the amount of funding the administration is seeking from Congress for NSF for fiscal year 2010 to fund major scientific research programs and projects across the country. The briefing will feature presentations by senior NSF leaders, including NSF Acting Deputy Director Cora Marrett.

If you wish to attend the event in person, please RSVP to OLPA-events@nsf.gov or (703) 292-8070. There will be a phone bridge available to listen in on the briefing and ask questions at (800) 857-9632, with the participant passcode 'NSF'.

The National Science Foundation (NSF) is an independent federal agency that supports fundamental research and education across all fields of science and engineering. In fiscal year (FY) 2009, its budget is $9.5 billion, which includes $3.0 billion provided through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. NSF funds reach all 50 states through grants to over 1,900 universities and institutions. Each year, NSF receives about 44,400 competitive requests for funding, and makes over 11,500 new funding awards. NSF also awards over $400 million in professional and service contracts yearly.
