A celebration of the early accomplishments of the International Polar Year (IPY) 2007-2008 will be the subject of a symposium organized by the National Academy of Sciences and the National Science Foundation. The meeting will include highlights of IPY science projects, focusing on common lessons being learned in both the Arctic and the Antarctic. Topics will include climate change, ice sheets and sea ice, polar ecosystems, people in the changing Arctic, and more. This event is free and open to the public. Registration is required.
