Multidrug-resistant Organism (MDRO) and Clostridium difficile-Associated Disease (CDAD) Module

The MDRO and CDAD Module is part of the Patient Safety Component of NHSN and includes instructions for procedures performing infection surveillance, laboratory-identified (LabID) event reporting, and prevention process and active surveillance testing outcome measures. Prevention process measures include hand hygiene and gown and gloves use adherence. Multidrug-resistant organisms monitored include: methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA), Vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus spp., and Klebsiella spp., Acinetobacter spp. Instructions for monitoring C. difficile infection are also contained in this module.
