ADAMS APPOINTED UNITED STATES PARDON ATTORNEY WASHINGTON, D.C. Attorney General Janet Reno has appointed Roger C. Adams to serve as Pardon Attorney at the Department of Justice. Adams, whose appointment became effective on Monday, will oversee the Office of the Pardon Attorney, which is responsible for reviewing all petitions for Executive Clemency and preparing recommendations for the President. Adams, 53, has been with the Department of Justice for more than 25 years and has been Acting Pardon Attorney since November 16, 1997. Prior to that, he served as Counsel to the Deputy Attorney General since May 1993 and served in the Criminal Division for 20 years. Adams is a graduate of Boston College Law School and Bowdoin College. He lives in Alexandria, Va., with his wife and their daughter. ###
