Case Updates: U.S. v. Jeffrey K. Skilling

United States v. Jeffrey K. Skilling - Court Docket Number: H-04-025-SS

On March 26, 2009, pursuant to the mandate of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, Judge Sim Lake issued an order scheduling defendant Skilling’s resentencing hearing for July 30, 2009. That order also established procedures for victims wishing to be heard at the resentencing. (See copy of Judge Lake’s Order of March 26, 2009, below). In substance, Judge Lake's Order provides that any victims must notify the Court in writing by May 29, 2009, and briefly explain why they are a crime victim and summarize what they wish to say at the hearing. Victims who wish to submit a written victim impact statement instead of making a public statement may do so by submitting such a victim impact statement by May 29, 2009 to the mailing addresses provided in Judge Lake’s Order.

On April 29, 2009, Judge Lake vacated his March 26, 2009 Order, scheduling the July 30, 2009 resentencing hearing pending further order of the Court.
