Free Summer Concerts Series
Join us for South El Monte's annual free summer concert series. The "Concerts in the Park," series will feature rocking bands that will get everyone up and dancing the night away. The concerts will take place on alternating Thursdays, beginning July 21st through September 1st, at 6:00 p.m. on the front lawn of Dean L. Shively Middle School, 1431 Central Avenue.

July 21: Suave
August 4: Broken Bottle Band
August 18: Loco Underground
September 1: Soto Band
In addition to live entertainment, the concerts will include fun-filled activities for kids, and food booths.
Attendees are encouraged to bring their picnic blankets and lawn chairs to ensure comfort at the concerts.

CITY REZONING
Currently, the City of South El Monte’s zoning map is not consistent with the City’s general plan. California Law mandates that the zoning map be consistent with the general plan. To remove the inconsistencies and conform to California law, the City of South El Monte has begun the process to change the general plan and/or zone designation of inconsistent properties.
The general plan/zone changes affect many South El Monte residents, property owners and business owners. Should you have any inquiries or concerns regarding the general plan/zone changes, please contact the City's Planning Department at 626 579 6540 or attend the first City Council hearing on the matter on Tuesday September 13, 2011* at 5:30pm in the City Council Chambers at City Hall. Only the zone changes will be discussed at this meeting. The general plan changes will be made after the zone changes are complete.
*date for the public hearing is subject to rescheduling to a later date.
