 Major Actions Taken to Date:
  • Department officials reviewed and approved State Fiscal Stabilization Fund applications for Maine, Utah, Mississippi, Minnesota, and Oregon, making an additional $1.7 billion in funding available to states for a total of $7.2 billion to date for this fund.
  • The Department received applications and began the review process for Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Wisconsin, Nevada, New York, Iowa, and Puerto Rico.
  • The Department briefed the 54 State and National Teachers of the Year on the Recovery Act, followed by a forum to gain teacher input into effective uses of funds.
  • Program Offices and Risk Management Services identified curriculum components for Technical Assistance outreach to SEAs and LEAs.
  • Senior officials presented ARRA update to National Governors Association.
 Major Planned Actions:
  • Review State Fiscal Stabilization Fund applications when received and provide state-specific feedback as appropriate to address outstanding questions and/or issues.
  • Revise Interim Recipient Reporting Requirements guidance per department and OMB feedback.
  • Continue to develop integrated financial and program technical assistance outreach plans.
  • Continue progress toward resolving key policy and planning issues associated with $4.35B Race to the Top incentive fund.
  • Review and revise Notice Inviting Applications for Teacher Quality Partnership Grant Program.
  • Review and revise terms and conditions for Enhancing Education through Technology (Ed Tech) State Program.
  • Develop non-regulatory guidance on waivers relating to ARRA Title I funds.
  • Establish process for reviewing State Plans for Independent Learning.
