Over the years, the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and its nonprofit affiliate Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Therapeutics Inc. (CFFT) have sought the best and the brightest scientists to join in the mission of improving the length and quality of life for people with cystic fibrosis, while also pursuing a cure.
Dedicated researchers, supported by the CF Foundation have made tremendous advances in the knowledge about the defective gene that causes CF, its protein product and special characteristics of the CF cell. This knowledge, in turn, has led to more novel new therapies that are under development than ever before.
To carry out our mission, CF research has been organized into three broad areas:
-
Investigator-initiated research;
-
Multidisciplinary research centers; and
-
Clinical research centers.
This structure has made CF research very successful and has been copied by other disease organizations. Our mission will be incomplete though without the involvement of patients in clinical trials.
The CF Foundation also offers numerous research and training opportunities. From time-to-time, the CF Foundation releases Requests for Applications (RFAs) and Requests for Proposals (RFPs) to target specific research topics. Please see the links to the right for a listing of CF Foundation funding opportunities.
If you currently receive CF Foundation or CFFT support and need to submit a scientific progress report, final scientific report, report of expenditures, request for no-cost extension, request for carryover of unspent funds from one budget period to the next, or a request for re-budgetting, please use the link entitled Report and Request Forms.
Please send inquiries regarding basic research and training to grants@cff.org. Please send inquiries regarding drug discovery, drug development and clinically oriented research to cfftawards@cfftherapeutics.org.
