Instructor (Group II, non tenure-track) - Russ College of Engineering and Technology at Ohio UniversityApplications are invited for a position of Instructor (Group II, non tenure-track), beginning September 8, 2009, in the Russ College of Engineering and Technology at Ohio University. An earlier start can be negotiated. Minimum qualifications for this position include a Master's in Mathematics, which should be completed by summer 2009, and a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching. The successful candidate is expected to teach nine mathematics courses per academic year. The salary is competitive, with an excellent fringe benefit package. Visiting Assistant Professorships - Michigan Technological University Department of Mathematical SciencesApplications are invited for one or more visiting assistant professors. These are two-year positions with a review taking place after the first year and extension for a third year possible. Preference is given to candidates whose PhD was awarded since 1 January 2008, or who will complete all the requirements for the PhD by 17 August 2009. Visiting assistant professors are expected to have an active research program and to provide excellent teaching. The research area is open, but preference will be given to candidates who can interact with existing faculty. The teaching load is two courses per semester. The Department of Mathematical Sciences offers BS, MS, and PhD programs. Current faculty have expertise in applied mathematics (CFD, mathematical modeling in biology, inverse problems, and materials science), discrete mathematics (coding theory, design theory), commutative algebra, mathematics education, statistics (statistical genetics, wildlife statistics), and probability. The position starts 17 August 2009. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the positions are filled. Postdoc Positions - Institute for Pure and Applied Math (IPAM) IPAM seeks postdoctoral researchers to be placed in a research group in academia, industry or a government laboratory. These positions (contingent upon NSF funding) are intended for recent PhDs (2005 or later) who were unsuccessful in the current job market. Applicants must be US citizens, permanent residents, hold a PhD from a US university, or currently be a postdoc at a US university. Applicants should be engaged in the mathematical sciences, including mathematicians working in a mathematics or science group, or scientists working in a mathematics group. Full-time instructor of mathematics - University of Oregon The University of Oregon department of mathematics seeks applicants for a full-time instructor of mathematics for its Bend Campus. Minimum qualifications are a Masters degree in mathematics or closely related field, and evidence of outstanding teaching ability at the undergraduate math major level. Two-year visiting position - Union College A two-year visiting position starting September 2009, with the possibility of a third year.
All fields considered.  Institutional expectations and support are balanced between teaching and research; candidates should demonstrate excellence in both areas.  The teaching load is two courses per trimester.
