04-May-2009: 20th Session of IODE takes place in Beijing

dscn1793_400x300.shkl.jpgThe Twentieth Session of the IOC Committee on International Oceanographic Data and Information Exchange (IODE-XX) is currently being held at the China People’s Palace in Beijing, China, between 4 and 8 May 2009. The event is hosted by the SOA (State Oceanographic Administration) of China. The Deputy Administrator at SOA, Mr Chen Lianzeng, welcomed and officially opened the Session, which is attended by 65 delegates from 35 Member States, 5 international organisations and 3 World Data Centres. 
The IODE Committee will, during its 5 day Session, review the work of the past inter-sessional period and discuss on important topics such as the cooperation with OBIS, the progress and way forward of the OceanData Portal and the development of standards in the OceanDataStandard project. The current status and progress of the different ODIN networks will be discussed. The different Groups of Experts will report on their progress and achievements during the inter-sessional period and the Committee will discuss the cooperation with other agencies and organisations.



22-Apr-2009 - Report of the IODE OceanDataPortal and WIS Technology Wokshop available

The IODE Ocean Data Portal and WIS Technology Workshop was held in Obninsk, Russian Federation, from 18 to 19 March 2009. The aim of the meeting was to address Ocean Data Portal(ODP) and the WMO Information System (WIS) technologies and interoperability issues in order torefine ODP version 1 and produce plans for ODP version 2.  The workshop reviewed the progress of the ODP version 1 development, discussed ODP and WIS
interoperability issues to support the WIGOS Pilot Project fro JCOMM, and considered the reference model and development plan for ODP version 2. REPORT AVAILABLE

04-March-09: Li Zhanbin returns to China
li_zhanbin.jpgMr Li Zhanbin, who joined the IOC project Office for IODE a year ago as a secondment agreement offered by NMDIS/SOA in Tianjin, China, has left us to return home. During the past year Li has helped us with a number of our web-based products, audio streaming, etc. We will miss Li and we wish him all the best!
