The labor market problems
of today's high school dropouts
Among the Nation's unemployed, about 3 of 8 are young persons age 16-24. The high unemployment rates among youth reflect the problems often encountered by these new entrants to the job market. Without a doubt, the youth facing the greatest difficulties are the 4 million high school dropouts. Many dropouts do not participate in the job market at all; of those who do, 1 of 4 are unemployed.
