A couple disturbances in the upper atmosphere will track across northern and southern parts of the region today, leading to scattered afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. Most of the region will stay dry though, with partly to mostly sunny skies. On Friday into early Saturday, another weather system will track across the Upper Mississippi River Valley. Shower and thunderstorm chances will be more widespread with this system, especially Friday night.
